What I really like about these little salt and pepper shakers is the creativity that goes into them. How is each one different from the other. Take for instance this poodle chasing her tail around the fire hydrant. The head of the dog is a salt shaker and the back end is the pepper. The addition is the hydrant which in this case is the “mustard” or “honey pot”. The top has a lid and the inside usually has a little spoon for scooping out the sugar or honey.
Below is another example with this vintage dice salt & pepper set with a traditional honey or sugar pot in the center. Note how different they are yet they are serving the same purpose. What is fun about this set is that each side has different dots so you can choose which you want to face out. Even the top has played with the circle shapes.

A more fancier tradition is incorporating the oil and vinegar into the design. This elephant has the salt and pepper in front hanging off the ears and oil and vinegar holders hooked into the back of the elephant.
